Artistry in Motion: Transforming Bags through Ink Splash | D&A Creative Project

August 9, 2024

DIY Ink Splash Bags

The ink splash fashion trend combines traditional Chinese ink painting art and contemporary popular culture, offering not only a visual impact and innovation, but also a modern interpretation that pays homage to traditional cultural art.

How can a mundane handbag be transformed into a captivating, ink-splashed masterpiece? The D&A creative project invites you to unleash your colorful creativity and endless imagination.

Recoloring & Ink Splash

Lorence TP Color Series have excellent coverage, outstanding wet and abrasion resistance, and remarkable flexibility. Their superior colorfastness eliminates the need for additional fixatives. Vibrant ink splashes are freely scattered on the black bag body, like stars lighting up the night sky.

1.Recoloring: Start by spray-painting the white bag with TP black pigment to create a solid black base.

2.Ink Splash: Using a brush or paintbrush, dip into TP white, TP sky blue, TP fire red, TP lemon yellow, and other pigments. Then, randomly splash the vibrant colors onto the bag, resulting in a captivating, chaotic ink splash effect.

Top Coating

For the top coating, Technical Control’s PU-816C waterborne matt PU was used. This versatile resin is commonly utilized as a topcoat for leather, providing self-matting and a soft touch. By spraying this protective resin onto the bag, it formed an invisible film, resulting in a natural matte finish with a gentle, skin-friendly texture.

3.Top Coating: Evenly spray the PU-816C waterborne matt PU onto the recolored bag and let it naturally dry.

Edge Painting

To accentuate the bag’s edges with eye-catching fluorescent colors, creating a vibrant contrast against the main body, we selected the fluorescent edge paints from D&A Edge Polymer pioneering BIO-Circul® series. This innovative edge paint solution provides a striking fluorescent effect that truly makes the bag’s contours pop.

The BIO-Circul® series edge paints utilize bio-based intermediates instead of traditional petrochemical raw materials, and are USDA certified. The products have natural covering power, excellent colorfastness, outstanding cold-resistance, flex resistance and weatherability.

4.Edge Painting: Use sandpaper to smooth the leather edges, then use an edge paint pen to apply the BIO-Circul® series fluorescent edge paint evenly along the edges. After drying, apply a second layer of edge paint to complete the process.
